FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ECO CAMP 2007 Press Release

Angelina Beautiful/Clean has once again presented another successful ECO CAMP to the children in our area.

ECO CAMP 2007 was held June 11th through June 15th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church. This year's ECO CAMP had a Hawaiian theme and attracted 47 participants and 20 youth volunteers. "Children ages 5 years old to 4th grade learned about energy conservation, solar energy, water conservation, litter prevention, recycling, waste management, forestry, and beautification through outside games, music, art, storytelling, and science," said Cherri Teutsch, AB/C Education Coordinator.  All of these stations are lead by certified teachers from our area.  Children entering 5th grade and older served as Jr. Counselors assisting the teachers and guiding the groups to the different stations.

Special guest speakers from the community brought lots of information and demonstrations to the children, including creating their own tiny landfill with the ladies from the Angelina County Waste Management Center and a visit from the City of Lufkin Regional Recycling Center mascot, Curby.  Professionals from the Texas Forestry Service and TXU Energy also came to ECO CAMP this year.  The participants, jr. counselors, and teachers all received an ECO CAMP 2007 T-shirt.  "Parents enjoyed our "ECO CAMP Luau" on Friday complete with a musical program, slide show, and an exhibition of the children's work," added Teutsch.

Angelina Beautiful clean is able to present ECO CAMP each year with the support of the Deep East Texas Council of Government and ECO CAMP patrons.
