Both Angelina Beautiful/Clean and Keep Lufkin Beautiful were recognized at the 40th Annual Keep Texas Beautiful Conference. To be recognized each organization must complete an application process and submit it for judging.
"The Governor's Community Achievement Award (GCAA) recognizes communities from nine different population categories for their achievements in different areas including community leadership, education, public awareness, litter prevention and cleanup, illegal dumping, beautification, and solid waste management," said Tony Moline, Executive Director of Angelina Beautiful/Clean. "These categories have always been important to this community."
Keep Lufkin Beautiful received the "Sustained Excellence Award" which is given to communities who have been given awards of excellence for 3 or more consecutive years, Moline stated. "To receive Sustained Excellence really shows how this community goes above and beyond to keep their environment clean and healthy."
Keep Lufkin Beautiful (KLB) was not eligible to win the Governor's Community Achievement Award this year. KLB will be eligible to win for the 2007-2008 GCAA.
